What I know about design
Currently, I’m doing my internship in a software development company. This week I have been looking more into the design of the software. For instance, I researched how to make designs in Figma.
With time I realized that my true passion in the visual, in making the systems look pretty or intuitive for the user, so right now, my focus is on the front-end. So, I research platforms to make the designs before the coding (Rough Draft).
Figma is a software design very popular with UX/UI teams. It is similar to sketch or Invision, but the difference is that Figma has everything in one. The main points I found important in this software are:
- It is 100% collaborative. You can share the project with the rest of your team and, you all can work together in real-time.
- Unlimited cloud storage.
- It can maintain all our elements through component libraries organized by typographic sizes, colors, shapes, discrete units, absolutely everything.
- It can design everything you want, it makes it easier to generate CSS code, iOS, and Android. It doesn’t give you all the code, but it helps you with a significant part.
- You can work offline. You can still work on the projects you already have, adjust properties, save it as a .fig file, and little things like that.
Those are my knowledge of these past days using Figma to start creating a real project. Even when I love how Figma work and all the futures it has, I won’t stay closed-minded and, if necessary, I will use other tools or software.
As I mentioned at the begging, my professional interest is in designing and using it for coding front-end. Is the reason that I want to learn this platform, and using it would help me a lot. Because usually, UX/UI designers get in contact with the Developer to see if the design is optimistic and not too complicated to code. Learning how to create designs and prototypes in Figma will save me a lot of time, and it will also make things a little bit easier. I would have some properties like the font color, size of figures, background color, etc. I’ll see it with the CSS code already.
